Job Description – Programme Associate for India (New Delhi)
Organization Description:
PWESCR (The Programme on Women's Economic, Social and Cultural Rights)is an international human rights organization based in the global South committed to promoting women's human rights, especially in the context of economic, social and cultural rights by engendering policy, law and practice at local, national, regional and international levels.
PWESCR is organized around three broad goals:
  • To build leadership and capacity in the field of human rights and economic justice to promote women's ESCR;
  • To foster collaborations to enhance learning, knowledge and skills.
  • To develop shared strategies to advocate problem-solving alternatives in the context of gender.
Position Description (Location: New Delhi, India) 
PWESCR is looking for a dynamic young professional to join our team as Programme Associate (PA). PA will work closely with the Executive Director on all aspects of PWESCR's work in India. Will advance, implement and monitor PWESCR's India programmes. Cultivate relationships with local and national activists, scholars and other stakeholders, and maintain substantial knowledge of issues, policies, contacts, and social movements and networks within the country.
PWESCR's Programme in India provides learning and expertise from hands on practical monitoring and implementation of the international ESCR framework from a feminist perspective. The India Programme helps ground PWESCR in women's realities at local level with on-going initiative to make human rights real for the most marginalized women. It focuses on the rights of women from social and economically excluded groups including single women, Dalits, tribals (Adivasis), migrants, ethnic minorities and the women from the NE region. Thematically PWESCR works on the right to social security, livelihoods including productive assets, food security and women and markets.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the implementation of India programme in line with the strategic plan
  • Work with colleagues to identify and develop strategies to meet their needs for programming. This will include conducting thorough research, reaching out to diverse groups and individuals.
  • Facilitate the building of relationships between stakeholders in India, other civil society organisations, government agencies, donor and agencies to support the development of the sector.
  • Conduct capacity building workshops for various stakeholders.
  • Write reports, proposals and regular communications, including periodic narrative reports on program components.
  • Assist in logistics and administrative details of programme activities.
  • Represent PWESCR in meetings and conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Demonstrated commitment to women's rights.
  • Advance degree in social sciences; economics, law, human rights or women's studies.
  • Minimum one year of experience in human rights, socio-economic justice and/or women's rights work at local, national, regional or international level.
  • Strong research, analytic, documentation and writing skills. (in English and Hindi).
  • Demonstrate experience in conducting trainings for diverse groups.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to network and liaise in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, manage multiple and competing priorities, and handle detail. Work to optimize teamwork, learning and efficiency. Very organized and efficient.
  • Must be able to travel.
Preferred:
  • Two years work experience.
  • Experience working on gender issues including women's human rights and/or women's economic and social justice issues.
  • Understanding of ground realities in india. Also an understanding of Indian law and policies.
  • Experience working with social movements, CBO and NGO.
  • Knowledge of Hindi and other Indian languages.
  • Skills in lobbying and advocacy.
  • Demonstrate writing skills
Remuneration:Remunerationdepending on experience.
