Position Summary:
The Individual Giving and Special Events Coordinator ("Coordinator") is responsible for coordinating and executing key Development initiatives of Friends of UNFPA ("FOU"). In particular, the Coordinator will oversee all activities required to support the organization's "high touch" donor outreach and corresponding events as needed. For each of these priorities, the Coordinator will work closely with staff to achieve the organization's strategic goals. The Coordinator will be required to coordinate all activities with other FOU team members as required.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate activities required to implement and support the organization's major donor outreach, public education and event plans
  • Support efforts to identify and cultivate major donors from both within the individual donor base and from external contacts, including mail appeals, email and telephone solicitation as appropriate
  • Ensure accurate record keeping in support of these activities
  • Coordinate work with Public Affairs, Marketing, and Communications staff to support fundraising and public education efforts
  • Coordinate and maintain Major Donor mailings:
    • Generate, process and assist in drafting timely acknowledgements and other correspondence as needed
    • Schedule and prepare materials needed for Development Committee meetings
    • Assist in administrative duties as necessary
    • Perform other Development-related duties and undertake projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience working with databases, especially Raiser's Edge, preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and mailing production
  • Skills in publishing/design a plus
  • Interest in fundraising as a career
  • "People person"/team player with excellent follow-through, time management and attention to detail
  • Experience with organizing special events preferred
  • Commitment to global social justice and to the principles set forth at the ICPD Programme of Action
  • Experience in women's rights, reproductive health and rights and/or international affairs a strong plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of fundraising-related experience preferred
