Women’s Protection And Empowerment (WPE) Program Manager, International Rescue Committee, South Sudan

Women’s Protection And Empowerment (WPE) Program Manager

The International Rescue Committee (IRC). Adjoung, Unity State, South Sudan.
Background:
IRC began working in South Sudan in 1989. South Sudan’s independence in July 2011 followed decades of brutal civil war rooted in disputes over religion, ethnicity, resources, governance and self-determination. IRC South Sudan operates a country office in Juba and field offices in Lakes, Unity, Northern Bahr el Ghazal and Eastern Equatoria states. Currently, IRC South Sudan implements programs in primary health care, community case management, environmental health, women’s protection and empowerment, protection and access to justice, and livelihoods.
In early 2012, IRC South Sudan launched a response to the increasing influx of Sudanese refugees from the Nuba mountains/South Kordofan into northern Unity State. As the population continues to grow, a second refugee site is being opened by UNHCR to accommodate new arrivals and those willing to relocate from the original settlement. Through a holistic women and girls’ wellness strategy, the IRC provides essential services in the reproductive health and women’s protection and empowerment sectors to northern Unity refugees, and will expand these services into the new refugee site in 2013.
Scope of Work:
The Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) Program Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth implementation of daily project activities in Adjoung refugee camp and to ensure that the goals and objectives of the program are met. S/He will provide supervision and direction to the WPE project team, with an emphasis on ensuring GBV survivors’ access to safe and appropriate health and psychosocial services, including clinical care for sexual assault survivors, safe and confidential GBV case referral, quality psychosocial initiatives, case management, one-on-one counseling, and group support activities in line with IRC’s GBV Emergency Program Model.
The WPE Program Manager will be based in Adjoung refugee camp, Unity State, and report to the South Sudan WPE Coordinator in Juba.
