DESCRIPTION
The Women's Media Center's Washington DC office is currently recruiting Communications interns. Interns work extensively on conducting media monitoring and media research for our Name It. Change It. project, as well as on various other projects. This is an excellent internship for candidates interested in exploring a career in communications or journalism.

The Intern's responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Tracking and reviewing media coverage of women candidates for Name It. Change It.
  • Contributing to the Name It. Change It. blog
  • Tracking media coverage of the Women's Media Center
  • Drafting press releases, statements, and talking points
  • Compiling media contact lists
  • Researching media requests and assisting communication staff as needed
The ideal candidate is media-savvy with a solid understanding of journalism, media advocacy, and/or feminism or gender studies. Good writers wanted! Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, have good organizational skills, and pay excellent attention to detail.
Experience or interest in journalism or a career in communications a plus. Familiarity with reproductive rights issues is encouraged.
This internship is located in Washington, DC, in a Metro-accessible location close to Farragut North/West. A commitment of a minimum of two days a week is required.
This internship is unpaid, though WMC will support those applicants who are seeking academic credit through their home institution.
