Employment Counselor

DESCRIPTION
The employment counselor will coordinate an employment program for women reentering the community after incarceration. The employment counselor will facilitate a 12-week workforce preparation program that includes classroom training, development of individual employment plans with women, creation of relationships with employers, and job placements and support. This is a high-profile position in the community.
WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Social Work, Women's Studies, or related field preferred, and a minimum of two years of experience in non-profit social services required. A Master's Degree with at least 1 year non-profit social services experience is also applicable. Experience working with women, drug and alcohol abuse, ex-offenders, or low-income individuals is preferred, plus community relationship building skills and proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Excel, Publisher, and the Internet.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
The Employment Counselor is a self-starter who is empathic and has a positive outlook. She has effective communication, persuasion, and assessment skills; excellent organizational and time management skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities; and group facilitation skills. The Employment Counselor expresses a willingness to be a productive team member, and has a heightened awareness of feminism and sensitivity to the societal issues women face.

This is a Full-time position, at $30,000 - $32,000 per year
