Type: Temporary – Full Time

JASS (Just Associates), an international women's rights organization grounded in and driven by its regional networks in Southeast Asia, Southern Africa and Mesoamerica, is a social justice non-profit organization, dedicated to strengthening the voice, visibility and collective organising power of women. JASS' cross regional office in Washington, D.C. is looking for an experienced Finance Manager who is interested in a full-time temporary position to assist JASS during a time of transition. The Finance Manager will report to the Executive Director and work in close collaboration with the JASS's senior managers and finance support staff in Washington, DC, Mexico, Cambodia, Indonesia, and South Africa, to coordinate and oversee JASS' finance operations and related administrative functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Financial
·Direct daily financial and related administrative activities for the organization.
·Oversee budget management (budget vs actuals).
·Provide monthly financial reports to the Executive Director and senior management, ensuring timely and accurate bookkeeping, accounting , bank deposits and receivables/payables.
·Oversee the annual audit and accounting processes for audit compliance, scheduled for Spring 2014
·Maintain and implement internal financial management policies.
·Manage relationships with banking institutions and manage funds transfers among different bank accounts.
·Oversee wire transfers, advances and all money flow to the regions and ensure all outgoing funds are accounted for.
·Manage the organization's cash flow ensuring funds availability for the operations and making sure the accounts are timely reconciled.
·Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
·Supervise and provide guidance to the Finance Assistant (Bookkeeper) and Intern, as well as support the finance-operations staff in other countries.
·Respond to inquiries from JASS staff and Board.
Grants Management
·Ensure that JASS is in compliance with donors' financial requirements regarding terms and conditions, restrictions, and deadlines.
·Provide guidance to staff for proper logging in and tracking of donations and grants.
·Prepare timely and accurate financial information for donor reports and budgeting.
Three Regional Offices and virtual staff
·Ensure regions receive the cash transfers needed for operations in a timely manner.
·Provide financial guidance and support to the regional teams.
General Management and Legal
·Produce contracts for consultants and vendors; update them as required and review standard contracts.
·Oversee leases, vendor contracts and other legal contracts.
Human Resources
·Oversee the administration of the Employee Benefit Program: Medical benefits, retirement plan and paid leave.
·Schedule, initiate and supervise payroll, timesheets, and maintenance of personnel records.
QUALIFICATIONS
·Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, business administration or other related field.
·At least 5 years' experience in financial management within the non-profit sector, including 1 year with an international non-profit with offices and staff around the world.
·Experience with the management of financial and administrative functions of a nonprofit organization.
·Experience managing staff and working in a team environment; experience working cross-culturally with staff from different educational backgrounds
·Knowledge and experience working with QuickBooks
·Excel knowledge; capable to use multi-tab documents, linking different Excel documents.
·Self-direction – effective in driving own work and priorities without direct, close management.
·Ability to solve problems and adaptability to respond to changing needs (deadlines and priorities)
·Experience working with individuals, bank accounts and currencies outside of the USA.
·Experience with a social justice and international nonprofit organization is preferred.
·Interest in human rights and social justice.
·A sense of humor!
