Gender and International Development Intern

Banyan Global is recruiting an intern to support its international development programs. The intern will be exposed broadly to the work of an international development consulting firm, providing support to operations, Banyan Global’s gender practice, and other company development. The intern may also be responsible for managing a special project in Banyan Global’s Gender practice.
Banyan Global internships are a minimum of 3 months, 20-25 hours per week and are unpaid. A transportation stipend is offered at $100 per month.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interns will gain a deeper understanding of the gender dimensions and constraints in numerous sectors. Interns will have the opportunity to conduct research on the gender dimensions and constraints in areas such as, access to finance, health, education, agriculture and food security, property rights and land access, and democracy and governance.
  • Interns will gain program management skills and will have the opportunity to independently manage a special project in Banyan Global’s Gender practice; will be responsible for maintaining gender project files in hard and soft copy; and assisting with the implementation of project management systems.
  • Interns will be mentored and receive training to expand their knowledge of international development and gain skills and experience in USAID proposal development, program management, and project compliance and regulations.
  • Interns will have the opportunity to assist with the development of proposals for new business. This may include conducting background research and summaries of the relevant literature; assist and manage the recruitment of technical specialists and international consultants; identify local resource firms for partnerships on specific USAID proposals; and editing and formatting proposals.
Qualifications
  • Interns should have strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and strong attention to detail;
  • Must have a strong interest and relevant coursework/extracurricular experience in international development and gender;
  • Strong writing and copyediting skills;
  • Previous administrative experience, international experience, and/or language skills are preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred)
